ABOUT US
Established in 1997, Paul Errington created a space for body piercing to be performed safely and respectfully.
Over the years, he moulded Flesh Impressions into becoming the most highly respected and longest running body piercing studio on the Gold Coast in Queensland. Tucked away upstairs in the heart of Broadbeach opposite from the Gold Coast Convention Centre, you’ll enter the studio and be welcomed into a Balinese inspired waiting room.
Adorned with natural wood carvings, plants and moody lighting fixtures you’ll be sure to feel relaxed and comfortable as our friendly staff take you on your piercing journey. From ear styling appointments to heavy gauge piercing for the more experienced clientele, or a child’s very first earlobe piercing, our staff strive to create an inclusive environment in which everyone feels welcomed and safe.
Our standards of body jewellery and aseptic techniques are internationally recognised by the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) and the Australasian United Professional Piercing (AUPP) and as a part of these associations we are required to pierce with and install only the best quality of body jewellery.
As the body modification and piercing world evolve, so does our studio. We ensure that all our practices are up to date and above the expectations and guidelines of the Health Department of Queensland.

The Association of Professional Piercers (APP) is an international health and safety organisation.
It is a nonprofit voluntary alliance dedicated to the dissemination of information about body piercing.
Governed by a voluntary elected Board of Directors, the APP is a united
group of piercing professionals that freely shares information to help fellow members, piercers, health care professionals, legislators, health inspectors, and the general public get the best and most up-to-date information about body piercing.
Australia has no standardised training and is unregulated for body piercing, this allowing sup-par piercers and not being as safe as it should be.
Although APP does not 'certify" piercers it does
uphold a strict and high standard for membership; this standard is for jewellery quality, knowledge and actively putting the knowledge into practice regarding heath and safety and cleanliness and studio safety.
Being an APP member verifies that we not only use the best quality jewellery for all piercings, and that our studio meets high standards that allow us to deliver the safest and best possible results for body piercings but we are continually improving and expanding our knowledge and actively put this into practice.
Meet the team
STERILISATION
The sterilisation process is taken very seriously at Flesh Impressions. We use a Mocom Autoclave to sterilise all our non-disposable tools, forceps, jewellery, insertion tapers and any other piercing related instruments. The autoclave is spore tested weekly to ensure that the sterilising process is successful at all times.
Prior to being placed in the autoclave, the instruments are soaked in a hospital grade disinfectant then rinsed off, the instruments are then placed in a ultrasonic cleaner which removes any stubborn matter then rinsed again, the instruments are then dried and placed in sterilisation bags before being placed in the autoclave (the best form of sterilisation available).
Our Mocom Autoclave has regular spore tests to ensure it is operating properly and the sterilisation cycles are successful.
We use single use disposable needles which are opened in front of the client and are disposed of immediately after use into a medical sharps container. These procedures combined, ensure you a safe piercing experience.
PRICING
At Flesh Impressions, we break our pricing down into two parts, a service fee (the price for our medical equipment and procedure) and a jewellery fee (the price for the actual piece of jewellery being used in your piercing).

All piercings performed at Flesh Impressions are
carried out in a totally private, clean, safe, sterile, air conditioned studio by a professional piercer with
many years of experience.
All piercings are performed using single use disposable hollow needles and sterile instruments.
You the client - get to see the needle taken from it's packaging and disposed of immediately after use into a medical sharps container.
We DO NOT use piercing guns as they cannot be sterilised and this method
is very unsafe and damaging to the body. Do not let anyone near any part of your body with a piercing gun.
AFTERCARE
HEALING
WEEK 1: FRESH Swelling, tenderness, redness and bleeding are normal.
WEEK 2-4: HEALING Yellow “crust” forms, this is normal. Simply clean as instructed, do NOT pick.
WEEK 5-8: JEWELLERY DOWNSIZE TIME Come in for a check-up, you may need a downsize.
AVOID CHLORINATED POOLS AND SPAS, RIVERS AND LAKES FOR 4 WEEKS.
FACIAL/EAR PIERCINGS:
- Spray 3 times daily with STERILE SALINE.
- Dry gently with clean gauze.
- Do NOT twist/turn your jewellery.
- Do NOT sleep on your piercing. (Earlobe piercings are the exception)
- Keep soaps/lotions/sunscreen/makeup AWAY from the piercing.
- Piercings take 3+ months to heal.
ORAL PIERCINGS:
- Use an alcohol free mouthwash morning and night after cleaning your teeth.
If you do not normally use mouthwash then please dilute it 50/50 with clean, cool water.
- Spray outside of the piercing with STERILE saline 3 times daily.
- New toothbrush.
- Rinse with clean, cool water
after eating/drinking/smoking.
- Minimise smoking and avoid alcohol while healing
- Eat soft foods that you can eat with a knife and fork, biting into larger foods may result in biting jewellery.
Avoid anything too hot, spicy or crunchy.
- Stay hydrated. Cool water and drinks will help with swelling and discomfort.
- Do NOT twist/turn your jewellery.
- Do NOT play with jewellery.
- Downsize after 2-3 weeks.
- No wet kissing or oral sex while healing.
TORSO PIERCINGS:
- Follow FACIAL aftercare instructions.
- Clean clothing/bras daily.
- Navels – avoid high waisted clothing.
- No body fluids/saliva on healing wounds.
- Piercing takes 6+ months to heal.
ANCHORS/SURFACE PIERCINGS:
- Follow FACIAL aftercare instructions.
- Be careful not to catch on clothing etc.
- Cover at night ONLY for the first week or 2.
This will help with avoiding catching it during sleep while it is fresh.
Otherwise let the piercing air/dry out.
- Do NOT change tops yourself, please see us for this.
GENITAL PIERCINGS:
- If applicable, spray with STERILE saline 2-3 times daily and dry gently with clean gauze.
- Drink plenty of water and urinate frequently.
- Bleeding is normal.
- No unprotected sex or oral contact while healing.
Sex can resume when comfortable.
Rinse the piercing/shower after sexual activity.
- Do NOT use soap on the area. Clean water only.
- Each genital piercing is different in terms of healing/downsizing etc.
Your piercer will advise what is necessary.
TROUBLES:
- Sleeping on or bumping/catching your piercing will slow healing and can cause irritation bumps to form.
This is especially common in cartilage and nostril piercings.
- In the event of bumps, working out what caused the issue and preventing that from happening again is your best course of action,
along with resuming/continuing your aftercare.
- A visit to us is advised so we can check everything and ensure the jewellery is still fitting well with the irritation etc,
and offer further advice if need be.
- Do NOT use alcohol/tea tree/antiseptics etc.
These are damaging to the tissue and will prolong the healing process further.

Do I need ID to get pierced?
As per Queensland legislation, we will not pierce the nipples and or genitals of anyone under the age of 18 years old, we will need a valid form of Government issued identification to be able to perform these procedures. If you are younger than 16 years old, we will need your parent/legal guardian to attend your appointment with you with verification of identity to be able to pierce you.
We will need a Medicare card/birth certificate/affidavit of guardianship with both your name and your guardians name on it, plus a valid form of Government issued identification for your guardian.
Do I need to make an appointment?
We are primarily an appointment only studio as we like to ensure that no one feels rushed, so we book out time for you accordingly. We don’t require appointments for downsizes, although a heads up is appreciated! Walk-ins can be accommodated sometimes, but to avoid disappointment, we’d highly recommend booking in.
Do you pierce children/babies?
We will pierce children aged 5 years and older if they are able to enthusiastically consent to the procedure. We will not pierce babies or children younger than 5 years old as there is a much higher risk of a needle stick injury to both staff and client during the procedure, and at such a young age there is a lack of comprehension of instruction (don’t touch your piercing, let me know if your ears are sore, etc). This can result in lots of other problems during the healing process.
This is a store policy that we are firm on, however if you would like to talk with us more about this then we are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and clarify ourselves on other points! We are a judgement free store and are always happy to educate and inform.
Can I get a piercing whilst pregnant/breastfeeding?
We don’t pierce anyone who is pregnant as your body is busy doing other things! Like making a whole human! As for breastfeeding/chest feeding, we won’t pierce you if you are in the heart of your journey as your body is still doing a lot of work post-partum so you MAY experience an extended healing period for your piercing. However, if you are coming to the end of your journey and are not fussed on if your supply dries up, we are more than happy to pierce you barring nipple piercings of course. For nipple piercings, you will need to not be lactating at all.
Can I use my own jewellery?
We only pierce with and install jewellery from reputable suppliers as classified by the APP. If you have purchased jewellery from another studio with APP compliant jewellery, we will need to be shown proof of what company it is from. If you are bringing in jewellery that you have previously been pierced with from us then we are able to use that! Any jewellery that is purchased elsewhere that you are wanting to be pierced with or get installed will incur a $10 installation fee per piece.

Can you clean my jewellery/anodise my jewellery again?
Yes we can - we charge $5 per piece of jewellery for cleaning. Re-Anodising jewellery will be $10 for the first piece and then $5 per piece of jewellery after that in a session. Each piece needs to be removed, cleaned, sterilised and then reinstalled; these prices reflect the cost of labour for how time consuming this process is!
Can I go swimming straight after getting a piercing?
We advise against swimming for a minimum of 4 weeks in all bodies of water to avoid risk of infection.
Can I request a certain piercer?
Absolutely you can! Please keep in mind that certain piercers are only available on certain days, so you will need to request a piercer when booking your appointment. If you aren’t sure who you want to go with, know that all the piercers working here are highly trained and you will be in safe hands no matter who pierces you.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash, debit and credit card but not AMEX.
Do you pierce with the gun?
No! We have only ever used needles to pierce with as piercing with a gun is quite dangerous. For more information, please visit the following link or feel free to call us to discuss!

What days are you open?
We are open 7 days, barring some public holidays. If there are days coming up that we are closed we always post on our social media pages well in advance so that your appointment can be accommodated.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
We do! Gift vouchers can be purchased in store or over the phone to any value.
Can you help if I’m having problems with my piercing but was pierced elsewhere?
Absolutely we can. We will never cast judgement on you no matter the problem, we just like to see healthy and happy piercings. For most troubleshooting, we will need to see you in person to truly assess the problem and work through what is going wrong but feel free to call us/message us and we will help as much as possible.

Is my child able to attend whilst I’m getting pierced?
Your child is more than welcome to attend your piercing appointment, however they will need to be able to sit/stand away from you during your piercing for safety. If you have children that are dependant on being held/carried, you will need to either leave them with another carer at home or alternatively another carer can come with you and they will need to mind the child during your appointment.
